Life as a Gift

As I am writing
this piece, I am watching a Celia Cruz concert on the PBS station (Celia
died earlier this week; she went to her place of repose). Tito Puente
shared the following with the audience,"We are paying a tribute to our
salsa queen all over the world: Celia Cruz." Celia hugged and kissed him.
I am looking at Celia singing, dancing. What a gift she was to the world!
She was blessed in being honored, acknowledged, and loved by a great
number of people during her lifetime. A lot of individuals are not given
the chance of being recognized for their gifts and talents while they are
alive.
Looking at
Celia and Tito Puente (both dead now) laughing and dancing, I smile and
remind myself to appreciate every single moment that life offers. I also
realize that one's passage in this world, however short it may be
sometimes, is a cause for celebration.
Have you taken
a look at yourself today? Did you see a wonderful human being trying to
make sense of a world that eludes comprehension? Did you notice the
curious look in your eyes that refuses to go away? Maybe you need to make
room for wonder in your life. Are you ready to start today? Treasures are
waiting to be discovered!
