"Conversations Under the
Mango Tree"
("Anba Pye Mango")
The drum and the conch shell hold great significance for people interested in communication systems. Before the telephone, the fax machine, and the computer( coupled with the Internet), drums and conch shells were used in various cultural communities as gathering devices. Observing the "blogging" phenomenon in amazement and with gratitude, we have decided to merge the old with the new. To accomplish this, we are inviting everyone to Tanbou Blog (Drum Blog). As the drummer is giving voice and power to the drum, we (all of us bloggers) are seated under a mango tree, savoring a juicy mango. Using a laptop under a mango tree keeps us grounded, centered, balanced. As "island people," we don't want to lose our connection to nature and the memory of our ancestors. For us, technology and humanness go hand in hand. Our understanding of blogging : The use of the term "blogging" is attributed to Jorn Barger. It is the practice of posting one's thoughts on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis; about topics of interest to the writer. Blogging is a form of personal publishing that the blogger (one who blogs) controls to express him/herself freely. It is not necessary to have any technical knowledge in order to start blogging. A blog allows bloggers to chronicle their impressions and opinions on a regular basis, and a "comment" feature enables others to post responses to their texts on their site. Due to our hectic schedule, we've been blogging on an irregular basis. However, we are working on a few exciting projects to propose to you soon. Watch this page!
